The International Beaver Knowledge Hub is hosted in the Netherlands. The use of cookies in websites is regulated in the Dutch Cookie Act, which is essentially an amendment to the Dutch Telecommunications Act. There are no fundamentally differences between the Dutch cookie law and the European law; the Dutch "cookie law" is the implementation (via the Telecommunications Act) of the European ePrivacy Directive, which in turn works in conjunction with the European GDPR.

The Dutch cookie law stipulates, among other things, that websites must clearly and comprehensively inform their visitors about the use of cookies. Cookies are small pieces of information that are stored on your computer when you visit a website. If a website wishes to place privacy-sensitive cookies, the Cookie Act stipulates that the user must obtain permission. Cookies with no or minimal privacy implications are not covered by cookie legislation.

We use cookies on our websites. We use them, for example, to remember your personal preferences. We place some cookies ourselves, while others are placed by third parties whose content is displayed on the website or in the digital magazine.

We place functional cookies on our websites. These cookies are necessary for a site to function properly. Without these cookies, the site will not function optimally. We also collect anonymized data about the use of the websites and our magazine using so-called analysis cookies. The information this provides allows us to improve the performance and user-friendliness of our digital services. Therefore, we do not collect data about our website users, nor are user profiles created.

We do not use tracking cookies on our websites, which do collect personal data about website users.

2. Social media cookies, privacy-sensitive

Social media cookies allow us to display content from other websites. These third parties can use cookies to create a visitor profile, such as YouTube does through embedded videos. We do not know what these third parties do with these cookies. We do not have access to the data, and we have no influence on whether or not these cookies are placed.

Accepting cookies

When you first visit our website, we display a cookie notification. You can choose to accept all cookies or only the cookies we use to improve performance and user-friendliness (functional & analytics cookies).

If you accept all cookies, this means you also accept cookies from third parties, such as YouTube. You will then be able to view embedded YouTube videos on our website. If you only choose functional and analytics cookies, YouTube videos will not be viewable on our website.

Sharing Information

You can choose to share information via social media networks like LinkedIn or Twitter, for example, using the social media buttons on this website. For this functionality, data is provided to the relevant social media platform, and cookies may be placed by the social media platform. The platforms themselves are responsible for this, and their privacy statements apply.
